Characterization for The Cardturner

My character's name is Alton Richards, and he is the narrator and main character of this novel. Alton is very determined. Like when he turns his uncles' cards, Alton always thinks about what card he would have played. Alton was also learning how to play bridge because of his great-uncle. Alton was learning while he was helping his blind uncle. When his uncle Lester Trapp commented that his nephew didn't know how to play bridge or understand the game at all, Alton got internally upset, because he did in fact know how to play, he just wasn't telling or showing anyone. I think that is an act of determination, because one day when Trapp dies, he will play for him, and was very determined to be well in bridge.
